Civil Service Commission

The Civil Service Commission is composed of five citizens and is appointed by the Board of Commissioners. The term of office for each member is three years and shall be staggered so that not more than two terms expire within any one year.

The Civil Service Commission prepares personnel rules. When in concurrence with the City Manager, the rules shall be proposed to the Board of Commissioners, and the Board of Commissioners may by Ordinance adopt them with or without amendment. Such rules include but are not limited to: the classification of City positions, a pay plan for City positions, merit for employee appointment or promotion, work hours and attendance regulations, grievance procedures, etc.

Library Board of Trustees

The Board of Library Trustees is composed of two members who serve as the policy and planning body for the Gulf Beaches Public Library. The members are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve for two year terms.

The Planning Commission consists of seven (7) members appointed by the Board of Commissioners for terms of three (3) years. The City Planning Commission may make recommendations to the City Manager and the Board of Commissioners on all matters affecting the physical development of the City, are consulted on the comprehensive plan and the implementation thereof and exercise all other responsibilities as may be provided by law or may be assigned to them by the Board of Commissioners from time to time.
