Beach Groin Restoration Project Underway!

Posted on May 7, 2024

Thank you Spectrum Bay News 9 for stopping by to chat about our Beach Groin Restoration Project!

Our beach groins were originally placed in the 60’s with a small restoration in 2012. These structures help keep sand on the beach which has helped us not require sand renourishment!

To keep the trend of no sand renourishment, we are going through a restoration project. We will be fortifying the current structures with metal siding then will pour concreate to secure it all together.

Timeline:

  • May 6th Equipment staging at Archibald North side of parking lot
  • Crews will start on groins at the North Side of 155th and work south
  • Crews will work on one side of the beach groin (water or Land side) leaving an open area for pedestrian traffic at all times.
  • Archibald and Kitty Stuart Locations to likely see construction August/September.
  • Project is estimated to be wrapped up by February 2025.
