NOTICE FOR HVAC POST FLOOD REPLACEMENT – PERMIT REQUIRED & NEW FBC REQUIREMENTS

The Florida Building Code, 2023, 8th Edition included NEW verbiage regarding exterior equipment and appliances damaged by flood. Per Sec. R322.1.6 Protection of mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems, exterior equipment damaged by flood waters MUST be elevated to Base Flood Elevation (BFE) plus 1 foot. This requirement applies to all mechanical equipment impacted by floodwaters, regardless of building age or height. Your permit submittal must include signed and sealed engineered plans showing how the unit will be anchored to the building. ANY CONTRACTORS PERFORMING WORK WITHOUT A PROPER PERMIT WILL BE REPORTED TO THE PCCLB.
