Storm water- Help us keep only RAIN down the DRAIN!

Posted on October 7, 2022

Stormdrains flow directly into Boca Ciega Bay and without treatment in some areas.

Ways to help prevent pollution are:

  • Contain Yard Debris with landscape barriers (Mulch, shell, rock, leaves, dirt, tree debris)
    • DO NOT PLACE YARD DEBRIS ON THE ROAD OR CURB FOR PICKUP. Place all debris on your property and it will be picked up on Wednesday with all yard waste.
    • Recycle grass clippings on your laws/mulch bins or bag and place out for pickup with your regular garbage pickup. DO NOT BLOW GRASS CLIPPINGS INTO THE ROADWAY.
  • DO NOT POUR/WASH ANYTHING DOWN STORMDRAINS
    • Paint, Chemicals can be disposed of at Pinellas Counties Chemical collection Center or mobile collection events
      • Phone: 727-464-7500, Address 2855 109th N. St. Petersburg
    • Anything other than rain down the drain is an illicit discharge and will be fined accordingly
  • Dispose of Swimming pool water properly
    • Chlorine pools- turn off chlorinator and allow for levels to drop to zero (0)
      • Once chlorine is at 0 please place hose in the grass to allow for more filtration
    • Saltwater pools- place hose in grass area for filtration.

To report a violation please call 727-543-8154.
