SEATS UP FOR ELECTION TERM OF OFFICE ANNUAL SALARY

Mayor - Three-Year Term - $10,000 Annual Salary
Commissioner District 3 - Two-Year Term - $7,500 Annual Salary
Commissioner District 4 - Two-Year Term - $7,500 Annual Salary
(Madeira Beach Charter Section 2.2(B) and Ordinance 2023-23)
Filing Fees: State Election Assessment – 1% of Annual Salary (Unless Affidavit of Undue Burden is filed)

CANDIDATE QUALIFYING PERIOD

The Candidate Qualifying Period begins at NOON – Monday, December 2, 2024, and ends at NOON - Friday, December 13, 2024, excluding weekends. (Madeira Beach Charter Section 3.3(A))

EARLY SUBMITTAL OF QUALIFYING PAPERS

The City Clerk, pursuant to Florida Statute 105.031(6), may accept and hold qualifying papers submitted not earlier than 14 days prior to the beginning of the qualifying period, to be processed and filed during the qualifying period.
Pre-qualifying papers will be accepted beginning Monday, November 18, 2024.
Candidate Packets are available in the "Candidate Packet" link below and in the City Clerk’s Office located at 300 Municipal Drive, Madeira Beach, FL 33708. All qualifying forms, petitions, and fees can only be filed with the City Clerk during the qualifying period set forth above.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

All candidates must have been a qualified elector and a resident of the City of Madeira Beach, Florida, for One (1) year immediately prior to their qualifying for election and a resident of the district for which he/she declares himself/herself to be a candidate for a period of six (6) months prior to the date of said application. (Madeira Beach Charter Sections 2.2B.)

METHOD OF QUALIFYING

All qualifying forms, fees, and petitions must be filed with the City Clerk during the Candidate Qualifying Period. (Madeira Beach Charter Section 3.3(A))
Petitions: Candidates for the office of Mayor and District Commissioner shall be nominated by petition. Each candidate for Mayor shall be nominated for election by petition forms signed by qualified voters of the City of Madeira Beach, Florida, not less in number than twenty-five (25). Each candidate for District Commissioner shall be nominated for election by petition forms signed by qualified voters within his/her district, not less in number than twenty-five (25). Each signature shall be executed in ink and the form shall indicate the place of the petitioner's residence. All petition forms shall contain the name of the candidate and the office and district number for which the candidate is being nominated. No candidate may seek election to more than one elective City of Madeira Beach, Florida office in any given election. (Madeira Beach Charter Section 3.3(C))

Along with other qualifying documents that must be filed, Candidates are required to file a Form 1, Statement of Financial Interests, electronically with the Florida Commission on Ethics. A copy of the filed electronic copy must be provided to the City Clerk during the Qualifying Period. All Campaign Treasurer's Reports must be filed electronically with the City Clerk through the "Easy Campaign Finance" link below. Registration instructions for filing electronically is located in the Candidate Packet.
