FEMA- July Plan
What to do when you lose power!
Summer means thunderstorms. There doesn't have to be a hurricane for you to lose power, a strong summer thunderstorm and do the trick. Please see below on some actions to take if you loose power in a thunderstorm or hurricane.
-
Keep freezer and refrigerator doors closed
-
Use a generator OUTDOORS and AWAY from windows
-
Disconnect appliances and electronics to avoid damage from electrical surges
-
Have alternate plans for refrigerating medicines or using power-dependent medical devices
-
If going outside, avoid large puddles around power line. Lines might be submerged but still active.
